Mindset is a common word used to describe a person’s way of thinking, their opinions, mental attitude, or inclination… traits we believe can be reviewed, relearned and renewed.
But what is Meraki?
It’s a word of Latin / Greek origin which refers to:- The soul, love and creativity put into something; the essence of yourself that you put into everything you do…
Something I also believe can be learned, practiced and harnessed.
It’s the perfect reflection of my values and is my why!
Practicing positivity, doing things with passion, and looking for a system (Save Your Self Time & Money) has been a way of life for me.
Creating life transforming coaching programs using this beautiful fusion of evidence-based Habit Change science, with Meraki and Positivity is one of my greatest pleasures and I cant wait to share it with you ...
Combining Meraki with Mindset was the perfect match for my suite of personalised life transformational programs and public speaking.

We're paying positive impacts forward, one habit at a time!
My biggest inspiration comes from my parents ...just teenagers when I was born.
A beautiful virtue I’m very proud to have observed in my parents and infused into my business life, was their recognition of the privilege that their success had brought them and of ‘giving back and paying it forward’…Having endured many years of struggle against the odds they taught my brother, sister and I to always respect and take care of those less fortunate than ourselves. (you can read more about my story below)
For me discovering and becoming a member of B1G1 – Business For Good has added yet another rewarding aspect of being in business. The not-for-profit sector is often accused of diluting the effect of donations due to high administration costs. B1G1 members mitigate that risk by covering the administration costs of distributing donations through our membership subscription.
Apart from compliance with one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development goals, each project is vetted and proven to have been efficiently managed with demonstrable and measurable impacts over a minimum 2-year period…
Just by Booking in a call and following your curiosity, you will not only be helping yourself, but you will also enable a child in Ethiopia to gain access to fresh, clean drinking water.
My allyship and membership of B1G1 means that clients who book a discovery call or join one of my programs to help themselves enable me to help others too!
For each call or new client who signs up, I've committed to contributing to high-impact projects empowering and educating young women and children in need. e.g. Helping to provide training and micro-loans to women so they can provide a living for themselves and their families.
My goal for 2021 is to contribute 15,000 impacts, I'm almost there… and invite you to help us help others.
I think I might have started being a leader around the age of 8 or 9. My father’s career meant he travelled a lot, I was never conscious of any pressure being brought, but looking back I realise that I started to ‘step up’ when he was away - a lot!
My parents were teenagers when they married in Christchurch, New Zealand and soon after setting sail to the other side of the world, with the dream and determination that dad was going to become a world champion speedway rider and England was the place to make it! A few months later I was born in one hospital whilst my dad was in another hospital across London having crashed his speedway bike that evening!
We also travelled a lot as a family! Within four years my brother was born back in Christchurch and my sister in Adelaide, Australia!
I went to kindy/pre-school in Rockhampton (Australia) and 5 different schools in New Zealand and the UK before I was 12! Apparently, I relished the role of ‘The eldest’ and was happy being the little helper and organiser!
In high school I showed similar characteristics, I became a Prefect, house captain, sports captain, achieved high distinctions throughout college and left there to become the youngest area manager in a hospital district in the UK…I was married at 20, opened a coffee shop when I was 8 months pregnant with my second child, moved across the world with 2 small children to Australia when I was 30, and have enjoyed more than 25 years in health-related Not-For-Profits, and corporate International events management and sponsorship. Leading multi-disciplinary teams, across two continents…. I’ve juggled 2 marriages (and yes 2 divorces!), 3 children, 2 grandchildren as well as 6 stepchildren and 7 more grandchildren, a huge extended family, family trauma and loss, and two businesses (incl. one catastrophic failure); I know all about surviving and thriving under pressure and I still love men! 😉
My mum and dad succeeded! He won 15 world speedway championships and more than 1000 other titles, and my mother was his rock! …‘the great woman and support behind the great success story!' I learned from them both about the powerful impact of making a habit of positive thinking and visualising with passion and the amazing success and benefits you can harness by practicing these two mantras. My observation of their shared growth mindset was clear...their constant curiosity and thirst for learning and then the tenacity to practice and the discipline to persist were rich ingredients of their success.
I also know now that for a large part of my own adult life I was operating on autopilot, some would say in my ‘masculine energy’ … I was after all ‘the eldest, the Prefect, the team leader, the award-winning manager, the busy wife and mother, the business owner and everybody else’s coach and rock; the ‘women can have and do it all’ martyr!
Don’t get me wrong stepping into ‘your masculine’ is not a bad thing, it’s just that for a very long time I had it way out of balance...
until I decided I wanted the old me back ... and so here we are!
I can't wait to hear your story and reassure you - you can do it too!
Whatever it is that's keeping you awake at night, whatever it is you've tried to fix all this time - we can fix it and usually in less than 90 days!!
After my last divorce, (and the catastrophic business failure😉) and for the first time in my life, I had a LOT of time to myself, and wasn’t that the wakeup I needed?
I suddenly had nowhere to hide no work to throw myself into. I had lots and lots of time: - time to reflect, read and heal myself; finally, I could start really persisting with and put into practice the dozens of self-help and personal development books and courses I’d bought over many years, but never completed or practiced.
I had just kept on getting up each day and getting back in my hamster wheel; doing it the only way I knew how- ‘full-throttle!
Suddenly I had all this time on my hands … to just be me, I worked out I could forgive myself my errors and love myself as I was, and for a recovering control freak, that was mind-blowing!
I also worked out that the thing I enjoyed and got the most joy from was seeing lights go on for others; when they realised their own potential and could reset their life path my heart would grow … I knew I had to share my positivity and create more harmony in the world!
I also knew I wanted a system or some structure to build my teaching and coaching around. Serendipity stepped in again and I was introduced to the amazing spirit that is Dr. Gina Cleo, Founder of the Habit Change Institute and one of Australia’s leading experts in habit change and wellbeing.
Her groundbreaking research on the benefits of using habit change intervention around sustainable and long-term weight loss appealed to my need for evidence and proven methodology for my aspiration to make a difference in the lives of others.
The power of making a habit of creating focus & setting goals, practicing visualisation and harnessing a positive mindset I had learned throughout my life, combined with evidence-based Habit Change Intervention Methodology that can be applied to almost all areas of our lives, and Meraki Mindset was born!
And so, it is with all this wonderful mixture of life experience, mentoring and proven methodology that I'm here to help you find and practice your Meraki!
I can’t wait to hear your story!!❤️
This is what’s left of a card given to me many years ago by a team member…I’ve carried it with me always so it has become a little tatty around the edges, but its still with me as a constant reminder of how coaching and mentoring is a two-way street! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to practice my best me! XXChat with Julie Book Here
